Lisa Brices print Woman is razor-sharp, literally, as it depicts an exploited sex worker like the ones she saw in Thailand. Appalled by one Thai bar sign that read pussy pulls razor blades, Brice creates this shudder-inducing image.
Lisa Brice has exhibited in numerous galleries and institutions worldwide. Her paintings have gained significant critical acclaim and have been acquired by prestigious collections, indicating her increasing influence and the growing appreciation for her artistic vision.
Lisa Brice was born in 1968 in Cape Town, South Africa and studied printmaking at Michaelis School of Fine Arts in Cape Town, from which she graduated in 1990. Today, she lives between London and Trinidad. She typically works with two-dimensional images, drawing upon a variety of media sources including photographs of herself and friends. Her subject matter is deeply personal and often addresses the difficulties and harsh realities surrounding sex, sexuality and violence.

In 2018, Brice had a solo exhibition at Tate Britain, London as part of their Art Now series. A major institutional exhibition by the artist opened at KM21, The Hague in November 2020 featuring new paintings and works on paper.
