The obverse carries the magnificent ornate engraving characteristic of Imperial German currency, with the large Gothic Fünfzig Mark denomination dominating the centre and classical female portraits positioned in the upper corners.

The reverse features an elaborate symmetrical security design centred on the large 50 MARK denomination, surrounded by intricate guilloché work.

HISTORICAL APPEAL

Issued only four years before the outbreak of the First World War, this note comes directly from the final years of pre-war Imperial Germany.

Unlike the enormous-denomination German inflation notes that appeared after WWI, this 50 Mark note represents Germanys pre-war monetary system, making it a far more historically interesting piece.
