1966 SOUTH AFRICA ONE RAND TAG EAR SPRINGBOK VARIETY / DIE ERROR
A highly interesting 1966 South African silver One Rand displaying the sought-after Tag Ear feature on the Springbok design.
The distinctive feature appears at the ear/head area of the Springbok, where an abnormal raised projection or additional metal detail creates the characteristic tag appearance. This is associated with the die rather than ordinary circulation wear, making examples particularly interesting to collectors specialising in South African die varieties and minting anomalies.
The enlarged photograph clearly shows the Springboks head, ear and horn area, allowing the unusual feature to be examined closely.
