Maximum Mintage: 3000
The R2 Gold Coin (1/4oz, 24 Carat) and R2 Sterling Silver (Crown) feature the Mpumalanga and the Kwa-Zulu- Natal provinces. These are two of South Africa's provinces which will host the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa football games.
The Reverse of the Silver Coin features the Mpumalanga Province on the right and the Kwa-Zulu- Natal Provinces on the left.
On the reverse of the R2 Gold Coin the positions of the two provinces are reversed. Symbols from each provincial coat of arms were incorporated in the design. Mpumalanga is represented by the Kudu antelope and the Barberton Daisy. The Barberton Daisy alludes to Barberton, the oldest town in the region. Kwa- Zulu- Natal is represented by the Strelitzia Flowe; a symbol of beauty; the lion and Black Wildebeest.
The R1 Gold Coin (1/10th oz, 24 carat) was added to this exciting coin series in 2007 and features elements from the South African coat of arms and South Africa's national symbols until 2010.
In the Centre of each coin appears the official designation of the FIFA World Cup, together with the denomination of the coin and a football player in action, unifying the 3 coin designs.
