Since 1999 The South African Mint has issued a R1 Commemorative Gold Coin depicting all the major cultures found in South Africa.
In the 2009 tenth ounce Cultural coin, the Northern Sotho, or Bapedi people are honoured. A woman is etched on the coin while she prepares a traditional meal on a three legged pot in familiar surroundings.
A very popular series with only 236 Sotho coins being issued in 2001 and the highest mintage thus far being 734 in 2007 in honour of the Afrikaner Nation. ALL of the previous Cultural series coins are now valued at between R3500 and 4000. This is possibly due to their low mintages and popularity among collectors. Our selling price offers good investment potential based on historic values.
The coin, issued by the S. A. Mint, is encapsulated, certificated, of proof quality and in a burgundy box of issue. - Please see terms and conditions below.
