“Mature” is not a skin type. At any age, a woman can be struggling with a wide variety of skin issues, from dryness to rosacea, acne, oily skin, sun damage, skin discolorations, and wrinkles. The products marketed for mature skin always assume that adult women have dry skin, and that is absolutely not the case. Not to mention that there aren’t any special skin-care ingredients for older skin versus younger skin.

Aside from this arbitrary skin-care category, this emollient moisturizer contains some great ingredients for dry skin; however, because it is packaged in a jar, the beneficial ingredients (including ubiquinone, otherwise known as coenzyme Q10) won’t remain stable once it is opened. All plant extracts, vitamins, antioxidants, and other state-of-the-art ingredients break down in the presence of air, so once a jar is opened and lets the air in, these important ingredients begin to deteriorate. Jars also are unsanitary because you’re dipping your fingers into them with each use, adding bacteria, which further deteriorate the beneficial ingredients. What a shame, because in better packaging this would be a very good, inexpensive moisturizer for dry skin.
