Description/Inspiration Behind the Painting:
I live in rural South Africa in a place called the Klein Karoo where you have stark landscapes that look like you're on the moon as well as beautiful luscious farmlands. This 'Red Hill' series captures the fun and quirky side of life in the country, where your pets are your best friend and the great outdoors is pure magic. I also like to make my trees look like human figures to depict our link not only to the Earth but to the cosmos, with roots firmly planted and branches reaching out to the stars.
