An EXCELLENT example of a Border War Era, 1979  South Africn Medical Service (SAMS) 1st Type Officer's Peak Cap with Badge. This piece appears to be in a GOOD state of preservation, with detailed Relief on Insignia - ** Note : minor wear to Enamel finish. Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface. One or two minor moth nips evident. 

The South African Medical Service, was established as a branch of the SADF in July 1979 - amalgamating the various Medical Corps of the Army , Navy & Air Force. SAMS personnel provided invaluable Medical & Veterinary care during the Conflict in SWA/ Angola. This branch has continued  functioning as a part of the new SANDF since 1994.

The ideal addition to any 1970s South African Border War / SA Medical Service Militaria collection or display- for the enthusiast seeking a unique period piece for their assortment.
