An EXCELLENT example of Border War, 1980s SWATF Reaction Force Owambo Beret w/ Badge & Infantry Balkie.This piece appears to be in a VF/F state , with detailed Relief on obverse. All insignia present. Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface. Felt Material is in good order - no holes. Lining is intact with Insignia retaining all Pins and plastic stabilizer.
The SWATF ( South-West Africa Territory Force) was formed in 1977 ; developing a rapid response Unit as part of 91 Brigade in Owamboland to deal with insurgent incursions. The Unit was known as the Reaction Force and comprised of highly trained light-infantry personnel- deployed in airborne Assault doctrine.
The ideal addition to any SADF/ SWATF Border War Era Insignia collection or display- for the enthusiast seeking a unique period piece for their assortment.
