This is a *British George IV Penny from 1826*

- *Portrait*: The "Laureate Head" - hes wearing a laurel wreath

- *Material*: Copper. This is the big penny, not the small modern one

- *Denomination*: Most likely a *1 Penny* - they were huge back then, about 34mm

George IV reigned 1820-1830. 1826 pennies are known as the "second issue" copper pennies. They were minted in London and circulated throughout the British Empire, including South Africa back then.

The patina/toning on yours looks really nice - that green/brown age is what collectors actually want.
