2002 WOODED CHARDONNAY

SUPERB CONDITION - EXCELLENT DRINKING

Divine butterscotch and toasty notes followed by oak flavours and plenty of fruit characters make this a wine to savour while collecting all the wonderful flavours.

Soil type:Clovelly on S-NE facing slopes
Trellising:Elongated Perold
Age of vines:3-23 years
Irrigation:None – dry land with high natural rainfall (780mm /YR)
Vinification:Barrel maturation for 10 months. All juices were feremented and malo-lactic fermentation completed in barrique.
Barrique:512 months 100 % New French from Dargaud & Jaegle, Taransaud and Francois Freres. All barrels are made from French Allier forest wood (tight grain) with a medium to long, slow toasting.

Comments:This full bodied, rich Chardonnay offers a powerful citrus-marmalade and steely backbone. Classic toasty and butterscotch-like characters with mineral undertones. Good balance of oak followed with abundant fruit.
