NOTE: Varnish is the final layer applied to all of my paintings, which is done to protect the painting from pollution in the atmosphere and/or any abrasion. Varnishing the painting also brings out the colours to the brilliance with which it was intended in the first place. The varnish also protects the painting from dirt, dust or any pollution, and evens out the final appearance and dramatically improves the clarity of the final product. In addition, UV rays, sunlight and fluorescent lighting can possibly change the pigment in paints, thus causing the painting to fade if it is not protected in some way or other.

Our thanks go out to one and all for your support during last year.     I do hope that you will be pleased with some of the new work which I am presenting to you, and would like to let you know that from now onwards, my work will be done on either normal hardboard, professionally covered canvas on board, or ‘ready to hang’ boxed canvas – the choice is yours entirely, and to me it does not matter, I enjoy working on any surface.

A bit about myself:  Even though I grew up in Port Elizabeth, my grandparents farmed in the Langkloof where I would, from a very early stage in my life, visit them during school holidays and the odd week-end.  While at school,  I was usually the one who did any drawings for most of the class  which I, of course,  thoroughly enjoyed.   After matric,  I attended art classes until meeting my husband and getting married and doing all the usual things associated with that J

When the ‘empty nest’ syndrome struck a few years back, I pondered about going back to doing my paintings – well, needless to say, I did not ponder very long about that, and literally threw myself into doing what I loved best of all – farm landscapes – yes, this coming way back from all my childhood memories on my grandparents’ farm in the Langkloof.
