TITLE: JESSIE MEIER ORIGINAL : TEXTURED ABSTRACT
ARTIST: Jessie Meier
SIZE: 30cm x 20cm
MEDIUM: Mixed medium on prepared board - To be framed by buyer
Dark blue in centre of painting has been touched with silver acrylic paint.
NOTE: Varnish is the final layer applied to all of my paintings, which is done to protect the painting from pollution in the atmosphere and/or any abrasion. Varnishing the painting also brings out the colours to the brilliance with which it was intended in the first place. The varnish also protects the painting from dirt, dust or any pollution, and evens out the final appearance and dramatically improves the clarity of the final product. In addition, UV rays, sunlight and fluorescent lighting can possibly change the pigment in paints, thus causing the painting to fade if it is not protected in some way or other.
We would like to take this opportunity of thanking all buyers on ‘Bid or Buy’ who have supported us during this year – our thanks go out to you all for your exceptionally wonderful support. We have made many Bid or Buy friends who we have never met face to face, we thank you for your loyalty.
We hope that next year will bring ‘bigger’ and ‘better’ to you by me doing a couple of paintings on canvas – I will still, be doing the art on board, but here and there I will be slowly bringing in boxed canvas and professionally covered canvas on board. I will keep all three options open to you, as they say, “different strokes for different folks”! (no pun intended!)
A bit about myself: Even though I grew up in Port Elizabeth, my grandparents farmed in the Langkloof where I would, from a very early stage in my life, visit them during school holidays and the odd week-end. While at school, I was usually the one who did the (in those days) Nature Study and Hygiene drawings for the rest of the class, which I thoroughly enjoyed. After finishing matric, I attended art classes given by Mr Hunter Nesbit – although, I am sure he will never remember me seeing that I did not last that long at the classes due to other interests at that time which included meeting my husband and getting married and doing all the usual things associated with that J
When the ‘empty nest’ syndrome struck a few years back, I pondered about going back to doing my paintings – well, needless to say, I did not ponder very long about that, and literally threw myself into doing what I loved best of all – farm landscapes – yes, this coming way back from all my childhood memories on my grandparents’ farm in the Langkloof.
A photo of myself? Well now – I will have to go and dig somewhere in the archives – no, just joking!!! I will get Fred to put one up for me so that you can see what we look like – yes, it will be one of him and I together!
We would like to wish you all a wonderful Christmas - may you, your family, friends and loved ones be Blessed this special holiday season.
