Description of Painting:
I live in Barrydale in the Klein Karoo and am inspired on a daily basis by the colourful, beautiful birds we have here. These cape weavers nest in our trees and come every morning and evening for their seeds. They are a permanent fixture of our garden and look like yellow leaves dropping from the trees when they alight on the lawn.
I love to work with mixed media, especially metallics. The background is gold and I have used all sorts of metallic material to enhance the more stark, abstract landscape of the Karoo.
