An EXCELLENT example of a 20th Century, Chinese Porcelain Turquoise Blue Guardian Lion Statuette. This  piece appears to be in a well-preserved state and represents a 'Shi' or stylized female Lion with a cub beneath her paw. This figure is representative of the spiritual element of life, protecting the household from harmful influences and individuals. The Shishi or Guardian Lions have been  evident in Chinese culture since the Han Dynasty (202 BC - 220 AD) , and remain as important traditional icons in modern times.
