Cinnabar is a Sulfide mineral stone, that has been used for decorative Carving and pigmentation extraction since the Late Stone Age. The use of Cinnabar became popular in Song Dynasty China (960-1279 AD) & continues as a modern tradition for producing objects d'art.

This piece features an embellished floral rim motif throughout, framing a naturistic boating scene set amongst multiple Siheyuan dwellings on a series of small islands.
