The self-catering units of Glenmore Sands and Cabanas resort were converted from the former Green Dolphin Hotel in 1983. However, a large percentage of the original early 20th century building still survives, as do plenty of vintage memorabilia and photographs.

Most of the timeshares at this 2002 RCI Hospitality Award winning resort overlook the Indian Ocean coastline of Glenmore Beach. Five cabanas are in a separate section from the main complex. Fully equipped kitchens with microwave ovens are part of each unit, alongside DSTV and telephone services.

The outdoor and children's swimming pools are surrounded by lovely gardens, and the nearest beach is just steps away. The resort restaurant is named after the Nightingale vessel, which sank on Glenmore Beach's Munster rocks, and serves up seaside views with its Sunday lunches and seafood meals.

Guests can not only get up close and personal glimpses of the Nightingale's cylinder and boiler at low tide, but also see whales and dolphins frolic between the months of April and October, South Africa's winter season. Wildlife on the ground includes frequent fish eagle sightings and one of only two hyrax rock rabbit colonies on the country's South Coast.

The nearest town, Port Edward, is a brief drive to the north of Glenmore Sands and Cabanas. The calm lagoon and beach breakers are safe for swimming, and the Casino, Port Edward, and Southbroom golf courses are also nearby.
