About the artist:

Ilse works from her studio in Johannesburg, South Africa. She studied Fine Arts at the University of South Africa and the University of the Free State

She participated in numerous exhibitions in South Africa and abroad (Boston, Florence and Barcelona), and did numerous commissions (her work can be seen hanging in the offices of many South African corporate companies and government institutions, the likes of which include PSG, Channel Anchor, M-Cubed, The Risk Monitor Group, PSG Future Wealth, The Institute for Retirement Funds of S.A, as well as the Department of Housing).

Her work focuses public issues in Africa, illustrating the relationships of all living things. Regarding the focus at the heart of all her work, she states that she paints from her soul, exploring the process from nature to man, which is taken both literally and physically, where she uses various layers of paint and involves the effect of oxidation on the work surface, which utilizes a natural process and enhances the idea of nature in the viewing of her work.
