Graig was born Martin, and paints under the name 'Martini'. He started his career in financial services, working as a stock broker and portfolio manager. He does some financial journalism and consulting. He is a listed South African artist and his work had been shown at two exhibitions.
Martini on this painting: "There is a sales manager of a large assurance institution who lives in the Eastern Cape. He loves his whiskey and most refer to him as 'Oom Jannie'. He was the inspiration for this work."
