The Viper Defender is the most powerful self-defence stun device of its kind in the world - delivering 950 000 volts of raw savage power to a potential assailant ... in a unit so small that it offers almost invisible personal protection!

First it converts the electrical energy from its batteries into a high voltage, low amperage charge. When an attacker is stunned, the high voltage ensures that the electrical charge passes through his body, the low amperage ensures that no damage is done.
It is the effect on an attacker's body that makes an electric stun device so effective. Our bodies run off of electricity. Our nervous systems are super-sensitive electrical networks. An electrical charge from a stun gun is like a giant jammer. The longer the charge is applied, the more confused the nervous system gets. This often causes the attacker to fall to the ground and to be disoriented and confused for up to 20 minutes.
But that's not all! The high voltage causes the attacker's muscles to work in short, rapid and totally ineffective bursts. This causes them to draw energy from the body, temporarily lowering the attacker's blood sugar levels and causing the body to produce lactic acid. This, in short, causes the attacker to feel weak, taking all the fight right out of him.
Below is the expected effect of a stun device on an attacker:
Stun guns generally pack between 80 000 volts to 1 000 000 volts, with amperages between 1 mA to 2 mA. The voltage alone is not the dangerous part of electricity, it is the amount of electricity that is. This amount is measured in Amps. Charges below 10 mA are non-lethal to humans, even those with pace-makers. It should be noted that pace-makers have built in protection against defibulator shocks, which carry a much higher amperage than stun guns.
