As I have a TV that doesn't support Component Cables, I decided to splash out on Nintendo's RGB cable to see if I could get improved visuals on my Wii.
The cable is very simple to install, as it plugs into the same slot on the Wii as the standard cables, and into the SCART socket on the back of your TV.
As soon as I loaded up my Wii I could immediately see the difference.
Everything was brighter and clearer than before - the various channel icons on the main screen looked so much more vibrant and colourful, and everything seemed much sharper and more prominent, especially noticeable when looking at on screen text.
I realised, however, that the new visuals would be worthless if they weren't noticeable in the games, so next I decided to load up some of my games and see if they had improved too.
First of all I decided to try out Wii Sports.
I simply couldn't believe how much it had improved. The game's menu screens looked much cleaner, and every one of the five Wii Sports games looked fantastic - although I found that the improvements were especially prominent in Wii Bowling.
Next I decided to try out Twilight Princess.
Zelda's visuals, which were already impressive, had also improved hugely with the new cables. Every part of the game looked so much better, Hyrule Field looked brighter and more colourful than ever, and even the gloomy twilight world looked refreshingly clear and beautiful.
One word of warning though: don't get these cables if you're ever likely to have to go back to playing your Wii on a non-scart TV - you simply won't be able to bring yourself to leave these glorious visuals behind.
