The designs on the R2 Crowns, while depicting football images, remain truly South African by featuring symbols from the various provinces' coat-of-arms which host FIFA World Cup games.

Elements from the host provinces of the Western Cape and Eastern Cape feature on the 2010 R2 Crown.

On the reverse, the official trophy and designation of the FIFA World Cup as well as the denomination of R2 dominate the centre. Flanking this design are grapes and the Qwagga which represent the Western Cape, and the Eland and the Cape aloe represent the Eastern Cape.
