INSPECT PICTURES CAREFULLY AS THEY FORM AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE DESCRIPTION.

ORIGIN : The Star (Johannesburg Daily Newspaper)

YEAR : 1974 -

EVENT : Prime Minister B.J. Vorster Press Conference

DIMENSIONS: 30cm x 27cm

An EXCELLENT example of an ORIGINAL, 1970s Prime Minister B.J Vorster & Pik Botha Press Photograph, as taken by a Photojournalist affiliated with The Star Newspaper. The specific nature of the event captured is unknown, however, the following persons can be clearly identified:

CENTRE (Seated) : Prime Minister - B.J. Vorster (1966-1978)

FAR RIGHT (Seated) : Minister of Foreign Affairs -  Pik (Roelof Frederik) Botha

FAR LEFT FRONT (Standing) :  Minister of Public Works & Immigration -  Alwyn Schlebusch.

The other Cabinet Ministers and Officials remain unidentified in the Black & White Press Photograph. This period image can be considered exceptionally rare , noting the difficulty in obtaining original Press Photographs from the Apartheid Era. The Star Copyright Stamp is present on the reverse of the Photograph- indicating that the image was considered as property of the independently operated Newspaper.

An ideal addition to any 1970s Apartheid South Africa Political Photographic collection or display - for the enthusiast seeking a well preserved period piece for their private assortment.
