Having gone more than twelve years unchanged, TAG Heuer launched a new Formula 1 series, dropping the basic watch and upgrading the Chronograph model. The Series 2 Chronograph uses the same case design as the original, but with a distinctly different dial.

The dial has a minute scale on its outer-edge, numeral hour-markets and then a patterned inner circle. It certainly looks more modern than the original model, but seems needlessly complicated. Another change-for-the-sake-of-change was the switch to triangular hands for both the time and Chronograph hands

The Series 2 Formula 1 continued using the ETA 251.262 movement
