This item is in an EXCELLENT CONDITION.  There are minimal signs of usage, the blade is sharp & retains a cutting edge.  The original scabbard is in  a good state - no damage.  Steel grip scales are secure and fitted well.

The Union Defence Force Acceptance Proof Mark is clearly stamped on the pommel of the lower handle. The distinctive "M" within "U" denotes an early supply contract for the South African Army during the early 1960s.

The S1 Uzi Bayonet was first supplied to South Africa by Israel from 1960 onward , as part of a mutual trade agreement. The early S1 Bayonets were marked  by the Union Defence Force in order to denote usage before Armscor began to manufacture their own locally produced version.
