A Superb example of an original First World War (1914-1918) 1st South African Infantry Collar badge , as worn by serving members in France & Belgium. The Regiment formed part of the British 9th (Scottish) Division on the Western Front - taking part in the Battle of Delville Wood in 1916. The Unit had been raised in the Cape Province & consisted of volunteers from the Duke of Edinburgh's Own Rifles , The Kimberley Regiment - as well as - servicemen from Cape Town and the Eastern region.
