This item is in an EXCELLENT CONDITION- All parts are PRESENT and pin is intact & functional.

COMPOSITION : .925 Sterling Silver  (Not Hallmarked).

WEIGHT : 4 grams.

These exceptionally rare Battle of Ypres Commemorative Brooches were issued amongst British veterans of the First World War (1914 - 1918) who had been involved in one of the five major engagements that took place near the town.

The town known as Ypres , was located in West Flanders and saw multiple major Battles between the Allies and Imperial German armies for control of the salient.  The continuous onslaught over a period of 4 years resulted in hundreds of thousands of casualties for both sides - ceasing with the culmination of the Fifth Battle of Ypres (28 Sept. - 2 Oct. 1918).

A superb addition to any First World War British / Allied Militaria collection or display- for the discerning ENTHUSIAST seeking a unique piece for their private assortment.
