During the Second World War, the USS Indianapolis (CA-35) operated as the flagship of the US 5th Fleet in the Pacific.  This vessel, which has been in service since 1932, was equipped with the latest fire control technology and rapid fire anti-aircraft guns.  She had a top speed of 33 knots.  In July 1945 the Indianapolis, under strict secrecy,  brought the components of the Hiroshima atomic bomb to the air force base on Tinian.  On 30th July 1945, during the subsequent voyage to Leyte Island, the Indianapolis was sunk by 2 torpedos from a Japanese submarine.  The sinking received worldwide fame with the 1991 film "Mission of the Shark - the Saga of the USS Indianapolis".  The model can only be build with a waterline hull. Scale is 1:700.
