"PORTRAIT OF RUGBY"
(WESSEL OOSTHUIZEN)
Indicative market price R4 000
This is the supreme coffee table book of rugby action beginning almost 50 years ago. It chronicles through the lens of the camera of a master of his trade almost half a century of rugby in South Africa and abroad.
Wessel Oosthuizen is probably the most celebrated rugby (and sports) photographer in South Africa. His most famous pic is of Frik du Preez and Albie Bates gang-tackling Chris Laidlaw on Loftus Versfeld in 1970, the sports photo of 1970. (Recognize it in the top right hand corner of the collage?)
And here is a book of 416 pages,
A3 (420 x 297 cm) landscape,
printed on high-quality paper and hardbound.
It weighs a hefty 3 kg.
It is a limited edition of only 1 000 copies printed in 2010, leatherbound and the ideal coffee table book.
It sold for R4 500.
This copy is from a small print overrun and is bound in leatherette. It is brand spanking new, looks identical to the leather edition and promises to provide you with hours of pleasure for many years to come.
