1800's - Original Japy Freres French Ormolu Gilt Metal Clock with Chime

***Valued at R16 000+ ***

On offer this rare and fabulous find, UNBELIEVABLY on the R1 N/R Auctions!!!!!  This clock is working 100%, I recently saw a similar one on auction that was not working and it sold for R12 000!

Japy Freres was undoubtedly one of the best known clock makers of France. See the following link for more information on Japy Freres: http://ecodeltempo.altervista.org/modules.php?name=WatchMaker&op=show&rid=9915

The clock has the Japy Freres stamp on the back as well as the number "11063". The clock stands 31cm tall and 12.5cm from front to back.  The face out of porcelain in raised effect and with nature scenes painted on the face and the porcelain urn on the top of the clock, makes for a truly desirable item and highly collectible clock.  It chimes on the hour and once on the half hour, it is a 7-day clock. It has a winding key as well as key for adjusting the speed of the clock, to be used if necessary on an adjusting mechanism at the top of the clock. The clock works with a pendulum. The clock was in a neglected state when I purchased it, but with a lot of patience a master clockmaker who specialises in French clocks has serviced it, cleaned and repaired it to return it to this fabulous condition. The mechanism is once again in a shiny clean state and the clock is keeping perfect time. Notice the symbal at the back for chiming has a small piece of metal cut out, I am told this is to silence the chiming when turned to the correct spot and it was also done for the tuning of the chime. Weight: 2.8kg. No damage to the casing apart from some minor gilt chafing on the back.

Fabulous Find for the Collector of RARE Antiques!!!

Shipping: Due to the fragile nature of this clock, collection or courier is preferred.  Courier +/- R250, Sending via SAPO - R100 due to double boxing for safe transit. Clocks often have to be reset after transit as they are very sensitive.
