1912 Era Microscope in Box
On offer this Rarely Seen and Superb Antique Microscope in excellent condition. It comes in it's original box and a slide out box containing 4 empty lidded specimen containers and an extra eye lens. It extends up to 38cm tall and boxed, weighs 9.2kg. The dovetailed wooden box measures 37x25x25cm. The 3 magnification lenses are marked: Lens 1: RJ Beck & Co Ltd, London - 16mm, NA 0.17, Lens 2: RJ Beck & Co Ltd, London - 4mm, Lens 3: 1/12 Oel Immersion, Ernst Leitz Wetzlar, Apert. 1.3 100x. This lens is not brass like the other 2, so may be a replacement lens. The eye lens at the top is marked 42mm and the extra eye lens in the wooden box is marked Zeiss Opton, Germany K 5x. The top lens (eye lens) in the microscope is very tight, I have not been able to remove it to fit the other lens. The key to lock the box is missing.
This item comes ex-stock of a famous antique shop that was run for generations on the wharf of Durban by the family but sadly had to close doors recently due to the ill health of it's owner.
