According to the London Numismatic club …”The Partnership of Daniel & Hyman began on 1st January 1864 in Bloemfontein; they were Storekeepers and General Dealers. The reverse has the arms of The Orange Free State and the inscriptions are in Afrikaans. 1867, coincidently, is significant, being the year when the first diamonds were discovered in the Vaal River
