Cpl Henry White Seaward served with the Griqualand West Native Contingent when this medal was issued. He later served as a sergeant in the Stellaland Light Horse, established in 1897. He also served as a sergeant in Cullinan's Horse which operated in the Kimberley, Vryburg and Stella area during the Anglo Boer War. He might be the same person as H.W Seaward who served in the Field Intelligence Department during the ABW.
