An EXCELLENT example of a RARE, 1967 Dr. Chris Barnard & Heart Team original Press-release Photograph. This piece appears to be in a VF  state , with detailed Relief on  obverse. All imagery present. Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface. Gloss finish appears intact. All necessary Press stamps and approval markings are present on reverse.

This large original image, depicts Dr. Chris Barnard addressing the procedure Post-Operation. He was born in Beaufort-West in the Cape Province, in 1922 - becoming the World's first cardiac surgeon on 3 Dec. 1967 to successfully perform a human heart transplant from Denise Darvall (donor) to Louis Washkansky the recipient. A second successful procedure was also performed later for a Mr. Philip Blaiberg at Groote Schuur Hospital.
