** YOU ARE BIDDING FOR ONE  .**

An EXCELLENT example of a RARE, Late 19th Century Indonesian Chieftain's Kris Dagger w/ Damascus Blade. This piece appears to be in a VF/F state , with detailed carved Relief on handle and Dagger Scabbard. All traditional motifs present. Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface. Blade retains a sharp edge - and must be handled with care.

This piece would have belonged to a island Chieftain or local community Headman during the 1880/90s in Dutch Occupied Indonesia. The Kris conforms to the Javanese style , featuring the asymmetrical Blade composed of laminations of iron/ Nickelous iron alloys (Pamar).

All Kris furniture consists of hardwood/ possibly Teak and would depict local Deities or entities for protection. The Kris is associated with the Pencak  Silat martial art - and reveals a structure of the Blade (Bilah), Hilt (Hulu) & Sheath (Warangka). The Carved Deity on the handle represents the Naga or Dragon demon associated with victory and success.

The ideal addition to any 19th Century, Javanese Vintage Blade / Kris collection or display- for the enthusiast seeking a unique period piece for their assortment.
