**A Very Rare Find**

The book belonged to Heather Landsdell, and in his inscription author Hugh Merrick wrote "For this copy of my book it's owner took to the foot of Everest, and because she has the vision to love both the small and the great"

President Julius Nyerere wrote "We, the people of Tanganyika, would like to light a candle and put it on top of Mount Kilimanjaro, which would shine far beyond our borders; giving hope where there was dispair; love where there was hate, and dignity where before there was only humiliation." 

Nawang Tenzing Jangpo wrote "May you journey in peace and walk in delight, and may the blessings of the Perfect One be always with you"

This book is a first edition published by Newnes, 1964, 247pp, binding still good, in hardcover format with D/J (The jacket is in a bad condition, with tears), but the book itself is still in fine condition. with 32 pages of beautiful photographs, most by the author,  of the likes of Everest, K2, Kangchenjunga (The world's three highest peaks), Nanga Parbat, Annapurna, the Matterhorn and the north face of the Eiger.
