An EXCELLENT example of a RARE, 19th Century Chinese Obsidian Carved Pig Figurine. This piece appears to be in a VF/F state , with detailed carved Relief throughout. All Anatomical parts appear present. Minor evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface. Stone is polished to a reflective state.
The Pig is associated with one of the many auspicious figures of the Chinese Zodiac - with this piece having been hand-carved from a single piece of Obsidian Stone (otherwise known as natural Volcanic Glass).
