An EXCELLENT Assortment of RARE , Boer War - Southern Rhodesia Volunteers & Rhodesia Regiment B/W Photographs. These pieces remain in a well-preserved state and still retain good clarity / detail. The Photographs depict the mustering of the Rhodesia Regiment at the outbreak of hostilities in 1899 ; equipped with Ammunition Bandoliers & Pugaree Slouch Hats before embarking for South Africa. The scenes vary and also include the Southern Rhodesia Volunteers posing somewhere in South Africa , with a British Army Officer. 

The Southern Rhodesia Volunteers, comprised of personnel from the BSAP , Rhodesia Regiment , Rhodesia Horse and many other Colonial formations. These  Units served to successfully lift the siege of Mafikeng (13 October 1899 - 17 May 1900) from Boer Forces under General Piet Cronje.
