Manufacturer brass lozenge is present & legible. Blade has been subject to handling/ sharpening during lifetime. Handguard 'Clam Shell' fitting / tension cap is no longer present.

An EXCELLENT example of a Victorian Era , Royal Navy Commissioned Officer's Sword w/ Ray-skin handle. This piece appears to be in a VF/F state , with detailed Relief on handguard and handle shaft. All insignia present. Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface. Handguard bears the Naval Escutcheon featuring Anchor & Imperial Crown. Ray-skin wrap is complete with Copper binding ; whilst Lion Head pommel appears defined and well-preserved. Manufacturer lozenge displaying the stylised 'S' for Silver & Co. of Liverpool and London is present. This piece NO LONGER FEATURING A SCABBARD.
This piece has been subject to usage and therefore Blade will display, discoloration in areas of handling. The tip is still sharp & should be handled with caution. The Pattern 1846 Naval Sword was introduced to replace an earlier variant ; Victorian Era examples can be identified with a total Blade Length of 76cm and a ricasso base width of 3.45 - 3.5 cm.
