An EXCELLENT example of World War 2 , 1944/45 Fairbairn-Sykes 3rd Pattern. Commando Fighting Knife w/ Scabbard. This piece appears to be in a VF/F state , with 60% of the 'Blued' finish present on the Blade surface. All parts present and secure. Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface. Manufacturer, William Rodgers of Sheffield mark is present on Hilt underside.
This piece would have been utilised by Special Operations Executive (S.O.E) Commandos , Parachute Regiment members, Special Air Service Operators (SAS) and associated clandestine elements during the period 1939-1945.
This Knife, features the late-War cast Zinc knurled grip that is characterized by 27 ridges, and secured with a flat Brass Nut pommel. The lozenge shaped Hilt is intact and displays the Stamp of William Rodgers , Sheffield beneath - a contractor for the period 1944-46. The Scabbard is the correct 2-piece construction variant and features the distinctive Brass chape.
