An EXCELLENT example of World War 2, RARE - South African Air Force - Path Finder Bomber Badge. This piece appears to be in a VF/F state , with detailed Relief on obverse. All insignia present. Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface. Lugs Intact- no slide pin.
The Path Finder Bomber division was formed in August 1943 - during Operation Hydra , and comprised of target- marking Squadrons identifying areas for Bomber Command. The units were utilised to bomb V2 Rocket facilities such as Peenemünde in Germany.
