An EXCELLENT example of World War 2 , 1940s RARE , SA Air Force 24 Squadron Lapel Badge. This piece appears to be in a VF/F state , with detailed Relief on obverse. All insignia present. Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface. Manufacturer markings evident. Pin intact- will display signs of age-related surface wear.
The Unit was formed on 5 March 1941, in Egypt and performed Bombing Operations in East & North Africa. The Squadron performed duties in Italy during the invasion campaign , before disbandment in Pescara in November 1945.
