This wooden Rhino has been hand carved out of solid Ebony wood or Iron wood and set in the natural dark black / brown color of the wood. The wooden Rhino is carved in a standing position as if walking casually around. The artist that hand carved this Rhino is from Victoria falls in Zimbabwe and is part of the Shona tribal people. Zimbabwe artists are some of the best carvers in the world and use their skills with perfection. This hand carved wooden Elephant has been carved out of Iron wood. From Zimbabwe, Ironwood is a dense and beautiful hardwood. It can be extremely time-consuming to carve the chunks of this very heavy wood. Most of the pieces you see are from a single piece of wood. They use tools normally used on stone carving and dentistry since the wood is so hard. These pieces have a rich beautiful look.
