The Photographs depict the living conditions of the besieged Settlers in the Bulawayo & Salisbury Laagers , as well as , some of the 7 Pounder Artillery positions & Armed Defenders. These scenes vary from the defensive , to a patrol in search of Matabele warriors by Gifford's Horse under the command of Hon. Maurice Gifford (CMG).   A wonderful glimpse into the lives of the Pioneers and Settlers as they endured a siege by more than 10 000 attacking Matabele tribesmen.
