* Rhodesian Bush War * - ULTRA RARE : Operation Splinter 1977 - 78 Lake Kariba ZIPRA Gook Ash Tray.
This time is in an EXCELLENT CONDITION, having never been used. The black & white graphic is clear and intact. The Ceramic is in PERFECT shape - no damage to surface.
This item is an example of an ULTRA RARE , and exceptionally difficult to find Operation Splinter Commemorative Ash Tray with hand-drawn ZIPRA Gook character.
Operation Splinter was conducted from 1977 - 1978 , on the Rhodesian side of Lake Kariba - in an attempt to stem the flow of ZIPRA insurgents and illegal arms smuggling from the Zambian side of the border.
Guerillas had been crossing Lake Kariba on various small vessels in an attempt to disrupt Security Forces operations in the Northern Sectors , therefore it was imperative to eliminate such activities with the use of Armed patrol vessels and shore based foot patrols by Army & BSAP contingents.
An ideal addition to any Rhodesian Bush War themed collection of Military memorabilia , due to the fact that Operation Splinter is not as well known as Hurricane , Thrasher & Grapple.
A rare piece indeed , that would add value to any private display for years to come.
