An EXCELLENT example of a RARE , 1934 Mosul Royal Air Force Inter-Flight Relay .925 Silver Medallion - as issued to the Victorious Squadron during the Competition. The No.30 Squadron was formed in 1915 and served in Egypt and Mesopotamia- performing Reconnaissance and Combat Duties throughout the First World War (1914-18).
The Unit continued to serve in British-Occupied Iraq throughout the 1920s & 30s , based in Baghdad and quelling Kurdish Revilts. At the Outbreak of the Second World War (1939-45) - The Squadron was sent to Egypt and participated in the Air Defence of Alexandria , as well as, providing escort missions in the Western Desert. The Unit later participated in combat operations in Greece (1940) , Crete (1941) and spent the remainder of the War engaged in the Far East against the Japanese Imperial Forces.
