This exceptionally rare antique Lyre-back Hepplewhite elbow-chair with marquetry inlay detailing is an incredible find and one of only a handful of these beautiful horse-shoe style elbow chairs that I have come across. The beautifully upholstered chair measures 62cm long x 50cm wide x 88cm high. The wonderful inlay detailing is carried through from the marquetry rosette in the backrest to the stunning tapered spade-foot legs. The carved lyre or harp-back completes this beautifully appointed chair. The elbow chair was greatly used as a desk chair at a writing bureau or ladies writing desk from the mid 1700's to the mid 1900's. This chair most likely dates to the later part of the 1800's to the very early 1900's. The chair is in wonderful condition for its age and has been well cared for. The upholstery is newer and suits the chair to a "T". There is minimal age and usage related wear and tear and scuffs etc. Please view the pics carefully to fully appreciate this stylish Victorian Elbow chair with marquetry inlay detailing and to confirm the condition.
