This 1967 South African R1 silver coin is a strong example from the final years of South Africas circulating silver Rand series, a period when everyday currency was still struck in real silver. Minted in .800 silver, this coin offers both intrinsic metal value and solid historical appeal.
The reverse features the iconic Springbok leaping above the denomination 1 RAND, one of the most recognisable symbols in South African coinage. Above the design appears the Latin inscription SOLI DEO GLORIA (Glory to God Alone), adding depth and tradition to the piece.
