SCARCE WWII SOUTHERN RHODESIAN AIR FORCE AIR GUNNER AG EMBROIDERED FLYING HALF-WING

An attractive early Rhodesian Air Force Air Gunner qualification brevet featuring the distinctive embroidered Rhodesian lion device above the large AG designation, surrounded by a laurel wreath and accompanied by a finely embroidered single aircrew wing. Worked in cream thread on dark Air Force wool with original coarse woven cloth backing.

The badge displays genuine age, service wear and toning while retaining excellent definition to the lion, AG lettering, wreath and feather detail. The reverse retains old stitching and evidence of removal from uniform.

An increasingly difficult Rhodesian aviation badge and an excellent addition to a WWII, Southern Rhodesian or Commonwealth aircrew insignia collection.

I would not clean this one at all. The aged cream embroidery and old reverse are part of what gives it credibility and collector appeal.
