Absolutley stunning, antique West-African solid bronze currency bracelet or Manilla (meaning hand-ring).

Currency bracelets were used in pre-colonial times in West Africa, generally in the trading between Portugal. They are cast from solid bronze, weighty and extremely collectible.

This manilla is rare in the fact that it is twisted (a difficult process when casting bronze) and its weight, over a kilogram in solid brass.

The band has tiny engravings from the 100+ years of its existance. It is a truly stunning and unusual piece. Manillas are exceptional rare and thus highly valuable, with some fetching R20000+.
